Include obstacles for your character to overcome
A good story introduces a character who is struggling with some sort of conflict or problem. Think about your favorite stories.
- What challenges or problems did the characters in the story have to overcome?
To understand the challenges that your character must face, it can be helpful to think about things that would stop your character from achieving their goal. For example, if the main character in my story wants to go on a cross-country road trip, then safely traveling across the U.S. during the pandemic might be an obstacle.
