Using an interactive story editor

Once you have completed your research and planned your story, it's time to write it!

Several good story-writing editors or platforms are available. We have provided resources to use either Twine or Stories for Schools and lay out some of the benefits and trade-offs of these platforms below.

  • Twine is a browser-based story editor that does not require you to sign in and stories are saved directly in the web browser allowing you to work on a story and come back to it later as long as you are working on the same device and using the same browser (such as Chrome, Safari, Firefox, etc.). Twine is easy enough for inexperienced authors to start with and makes it easy to author increasingly complex stories with variables as you become more comfortable with this authoring tool.
  • Stories for Schools is browser-based story editor that is a good alternative if Twine feels confusing or difficult to use. A benefit of this platform is that it allows you to add pictures or video to your story without having to use any complicated computer code.
